Springtime is upon us! What a glorious sight to see the sun after many months of gloomy weather. But the spring season doesn’t just bring the warmth of sunlight; it also brings a wealth of growth and change in almost everything around us. The transition of seasons is something we all embrace and welcome.
Sally Kate Winters Family Services is quite familiar with change and transitions. We see this daily in the youth and families we serve. Children adapting to a new environment. Abuse victims navigating a new normal in their healing process, youth adjusting to a new independence and personal responsibility, and the growth process, just like the changing of seasons and the blooming of flowers, doesn’t just happen overnight. Successful transformation takes time, deliberate attention, and much effort. A child learning to trust, a youth developing self-control, and a young adult juggling educational and employment goals all take patience, perseverance, and personal accountability. When we see that first hint of success and accomplishment, we can rejoice in the change and appreciate the process. Wow! Isn’t the result always worth it?!
Transition is defined as the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. As our butterfly logo so accurately reflects our mission to empower transition and transformation in the children and families we serve, it also symbolizes the new season of change for our agency. Many of our supporters are aware that Sally Kate Winters Family Services has been undergoing a transitional period since our leadership changed a few months ago. While this change has not been without its challenges, we are excited about the many ways that the agency has continued to grow and evolve under temporary leadership and with new more permanent leadership ahead.
We hope that you feel that sense of hope and excitement with the onset of the spring season. We hope that maybe you, too, are undergoing a metamorphous much like the children we serve and our agency as well. With this new season, we also hope that you will continue to support our mission and programming by finding ways to get involved. Donations, volunteering, or participating in our awareness and fundraising events are wonderful ways to support all the ways we change lives here at Sally Kate Winters Family Services!
